Safety and care

This is not a medical device

It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. It is a research and development instrument. Nothing it records or reports is a clinical measurement, and nothing on this site is medical advice.

Who should not use it

While you are wearing it

The device is powered by a small battery and the electrodes are passive: they listen. Lead-off detection, which you turn on deliberately, passes a current far below anything you can feel.

Take it off if the skin under an electrode becomes sore or red. Some people react to prolonged pressure rather than to the metal.

Do not use it while driving, operating machinery, or doing anything where a distraction matters.

The battery

It is a lithium polymer cell. Treat it the way you would treat the one in a phone.

Cleaning

Make sure the device is completely powered off and the charging cable and battery are unplugged.

A damp cloth on the electrodes, then let them dry. No solvents, no alcohol, no abrasives: the electrodes are gold plated and the plating is what keeps them quiet.

Do not submerge the device and do not run it under a tap. It is not sealed.

Your recordings

Everything the device records goes to your computer and stays there. No account is needed, nothing is uploaded, and the software works with no network at all.

A recording of your brain is about as personal as data gets. If you share one, share it deliberately.
